This unique and beloved store in the neighborhood was founded more than 70 years ago, when Mr. Iglesias, a shoe representative, bought its transfer, and there he dedicated himself to the sale of handmade and locally made slippers and espadrilles.
Although, first his wife and then his son Joan Carles, they continued with the family business, the pressure of rents and a court ruling that determined that the property was not obliged to subrogate the rent, Joan Carles Iglesias faced an eviction in his original premises, at number 10 of Baixada de la Llibreteria, so he decided to move to a new location, about 100 meters away, at number 3 of Freneria street.
Despite the fact that it is not in the original location, the new shop maintains the letters of the signage that made this store so characteristic, as well as the same initial vocation of offering the customer a quality product and local production, which distinguish it as a value for local and proximity commerce in the Gothic Quarter.
