A street guarded by a very modern dragon born from an umbrella house.

The entrance to the street is known for being presided over by the figure of a large dragon with oriental features, holding a lamppost and with an open fan in its tail, on the facade of Casa Bruno Cuadros or Casa dels paraigües.

Before receiving its current name in 1939, this historic street was known as the Riera del Barrio del Pi, because it channeled water from Collserola. Later it was strongly linked to Catalan literature. Here were located the editorial offices of the popular illustrated magazines El Patufet, El Violet and el Cu-cut. It was common to see well-known illustrators of the time, entering and leaving the editorial office, whose rotary presses did not stop printing in the street until 1938.

In its recent commercial history, it was the street of the prestigious Documenta bookstore or Casa Piera, a reference for fine arts products, and here you can still find the century-old Pompeia bookstore, the Sando Joies silversmith shop, and one of the oldest Basque taverns in the neighborhood, Restaurante Irati.
