Porta Ferrissa (Iron Door) was one of the eight medieval gates located along the second wall that surrounded Barcelona from the late 13th century to the late 19th century.
Historically, it has always been a lively commercial area, and this is reflected in a ceramic decorated with commercial scenes that you can find at the entrance of Portaferrisssa with Ramblas, which illustrates the public fountain from 1680 where you can also see another historical scene. However, and although a short distance away, it is Cucurulla street that can boast of having the oldest fountain in the city (built in 1356) and known as Santa Anna.
In addition to having an entrance to the historic Maldà Galleries, prestigious local brands with international projection were born on this shopping street, such as Sastrería Modelo, Leoni, McQuinn Internacional or more recently, SystemAction. You could also visit El Camello Galleries, an underground exponent of 80s and 90s fashion, as well as being the street where thousands of Barcelonans ate the famous La Montserratina sugar coke.
Currently, as an exponent of fashion born and created in Barcelona, we have the family company Aragaza or the centuries-old Estampería Sant Josep and Ortopèdia Cabré.
