The street that keeps, among other secrets, the road of the Three Wise Men.

Fontanella street, the artery that connects Catalunya square with Urquinaona square, was named in 1865 to honor the memory of the jurist and politician Joan Pere Fontanella who, together with Pau Claris, participated in the proclamation of the Catalan Republic and the union with France, in 1641.

At numbers 6 and 8, on the corner with Estruc street, was the Banco Hispanoamericano building, built in 1912, which was awarded with an honorary award for artistic buildings in 1913. But above all it is remembered for having been the scene of a major robbery that is part of the black chronicle of the city, since the loot from the robbery was never fully known.

In a more innocent sense, since the 1960s this street has been known for being part of the route of the Three Magi in the procession every year.

In its commercial history, there are some business that withstanded the passage of time and which remind us of the history that surrounds this street. Among them stand out: La Casa de la Estilográfica and La Sombrerería Mil, both places are centenary and enrich the commercial offer of the neighborhood.
