These unique cinemas have been showing films, in the heart of the Gothic Quarter, for more than 75 years. A place that preserves the essence of the endearing local neighborhood cinemas.
Being the oldest cinema in Barcelona, its distinctive personality has made it a cultural institution within the Gothic Quarter. The first film screened there was "The Gold Rush" by Charles Chaplin. Today it is a space for classic, alternative or auteur films, at an affordable price and in their original version with subtitles, for the delight of the purists of the seventh art.
The soul of this cinema is Xavier Escrivà, who began as the person in charge of the door during more than 35 years ago. Years later he became the manager of this cultural refuge out of vocation and passion. He has been able to reinvent it, so we can continue enjoying what its alternative film offers.
