The Trade Advisory Council has approved the calendar of Sundays and public holidays with commercial opening for the year 2027 in a meeting chaired by the Minister of Business and Employment, Miquel Sàmper, and the Director General of Trade, Marta Angerri. The proposal is part of the new commercial regulation —Law 12/2025, of December 29—, which introduces greater flexibility for companies with establishments oriented towards daily shopping and food.
Commercial opening schedule for 2027
The general commercial opening calendar includes eight days applicable to the entire territory:
- January 3 (Winter Sales)
- June 27 (Summer Sales)
- November 1
- November 28 (Black Friday)
- December 6 (Christmas Campaign)
- December 8 (Christmas Campaign)
- December 12 (Christmas Campaign)
- December 19 (Christmas Campaign)
City councils have the ability to replace two days of the general calendar with other holidays (except January 1 and 6, Easter Sunday and Monday, May 1, June 24, September 11 and December 25 and 26) to adapt to their local reality.
On the other hand, city councils have the power to add two additional dates to the general calendar.
In addition, the modification introduced in Law 12/2025, of December 29, allows companies with commercial establishments oriented towards daily shopping and food the possibility of replacing up to three days of the eight Sundays and holidays authorized for commercial opening in order to tackle food waste.
