Il Trovatore is an opera in four acts with the libretto of Salvadore Cammarano and Emanuele Bardare and music by Giuseppe Verdi. It was opened in 1853 in Rome and in the Liceu in 1854. Since then, 275 times have been performed at the Liceu, the last in 2009.
The protagonist of this opera by Verdi is Manrico, a troubadour immersed in a sort of civil war against the Count of Luna and fighting for the love of Leonora.
Joan Anton Rechi is the stage director and has placed Goya as a spectator of exception to history. In the production Goya paintings are mixed, especially the series of war disasters, with the story of Il Trovatore turning the Liceu stage into an immense cloth.
