Christmas Season boost trades in Downtown Barcelona

January 8th. 2013

Christmas lights, streets and storefronts decorated especially for the occasion and many parallel activities that aim to foster an atmosphere of celebration, one more year to bring back hope and optimism to visitors in holidays where is concentrated most intention of spending by consumers. It is for this reason that the commerce makes an effort to enforce the spirit of shopping and gifts toward the natural caution of many consumers in times of economic crisis.

The associations that are part of Barna Centre committed to give more visibility to Christmas than in other areas of the city, with activities such as ice skating in Catalonia Square, the traditional St. Lucia Christmas Fair , the Nativity of St. James Square, the first edition of the Pop-Up Stores of Galleries Maldà or the installation of the luminous trees at Portal de l'Angel.

Also we encourage foreign and international customer visit with campaigns like wich we have adhered to as Christmas Shopping in close collaboration with organizations such as the Barcelona Shopping Line of Tourism of Barcelona.

The Christmas season are key to our business, with a turnover that can mean a 15-20% of the annual total. This year is closing the season with mixed reviews depending on the sector, but they have in common confirmation of a customer looking for products with a good price and utility, and traders indicate that although the sales volume was similar to previous years, there has been a slight decrease in turnover due for an adjustment in price.
