The Palau de la Generalitat is the seat of the Presidency of the Generalitat of Catalonia and is one of the few medieval buildings in Europe which remains the seat of government and the institution that built it. It lies between the limits of the streets of Bisbe, Sant Sever and Sant Honorat with the main façade in Sant Jaume Square in front of l'Ajuntament.
Pere Blai was the architect who in 1596 lifted the main facade in Renaissance style of the Plaza San Jaime, the first grand facade of this architectural style in Catalonia.
