The History Museum of the City of Barcelona was born in 1943. MUHBA's obejctive is to preserve the historical heritage of Barcelona, studies and documents with the utmost rigor, and spread it among its visitors. This outreach effort is specified in many ways: with the permanent exhibits, with temporal and with a full agenda of activities for all ages. This is how MUHBA becomes the real Museum of Barcelona, an institution that endorses the entire city, with the conviction that the best way to prepare for the future is to have this collective memory.

This building contains the remains from Roman Barcino First Century until the thirteenth century. A visit to his basement can enjoy walking around the streets of Roman Barcelona. The set comes complete with important medieval buildings like the Royal Palace, the Chapel of Santa Àgata or Gothic palace known as Casa Padellàs. In the latter locations are temporary exhibitions devoted to modern and contemporary Barcelona
