The Hotel Catalonia Ramblas, in Pelai street, was the scene of "Santa Eulàlia" dinner and the ceremony of the "Rosa de Plata" Awards, an event which this year celebrated its 18th edition. This meeting BarnaCentre rewarded those establishments that have a revamp in the year 2009 and also those that have been installed in some of our streets.
The store Antony Morato, in the street Portaferrissa, received the award for the best store of new deployment. The best prize in the remodeled store fell on Happy Books-La Formiga d'Or, on the Avenue Portal del Angel. The jury also gave special mention to Zara, recently opened establishment as the first eco-efficient store in Catalonia.
The delegate of the Government of the Generalitat in Barcelona, Carme San Miguel, the Mayor of Barcelona, Jordi Hereu, and the councilor of Ciutat Vella, Itziar González and the Barna Centre president, Santiago Martin were in the act.
Barna Centre hasn't stop to claim the need to improve security in the downtown and act against recividist crime , so this generates a feeling of insecurity and impunity to the citizens. On 3 February, the Mayor, Mr. Jordi Hereu, sent a letter to some representative organizations in the city, inlcuding Barna Centre. This letter ensures that the municipal government is "leading an offensive against those who commit thefts repeatedly and in it, he admittes that "this facts threatens the harmony, good image and the commercial activity".
The Portal of the Angel was the frame yesterday of the first show "BCN Fashion in the Street".
This project was organized for Barna Centre in collaboration with the Foundation Barcelona Comerç. The goal of the proposal is to bring over the citizens the fashion that they can find in the Gothic Quarter and that can be bought at less than ten minutes of the parade.
